Who is this man, Eric?

Today, I was at Mathe’s taking my “RNB” peacefully until I heard a group of students talking about a certain guy who will change Kabete. I was curious, I asked them who he was. And the response was brief and precise, ERIC! I had only seen his banner in campus but never paid much attention to it. So I followed on and asked them why they thought he would change Kabete. They sounded confident in Eric’s abilities and as such, they did not hesitate to tell me the things Eric planned to undertake in Lower Kabete and what he has already accomplished.

What has he already done?

He has championed for students’ rights to an extent of being nicknamed “Mau Summit” which comes from an encounter in 2018 where he resisted police brutality when his classmates were coming from Miano’s burial in Moi’s Bridge, Kitale. (Miano was a student in LKC and he died in the KNH Saga last year). The incident occurred in Mau Summit, Nakuru hence the nickname.

He has linked his class and schoolmates to internships in various institutions (A comprehensive list will be in my next blog post).

Eric has instituted a welfare system in his class where they help those in need. Among the beneficiaries is Miano’s family (Prior to his death, Miano was Eric’s classmate). After making a couple of calls to his classmates, I was able to understand why he is loved so much. He is a sober candidate willing to change Kabete and with the ability and networks to do so. His leaked slogan is: “Don’t just speak change, be the change”.

The list of what this amazing leader has done cannot be exhausted. His classmates say that he is the only leader who has been present for each person during their time of grief. My next blog post will feature a one-on-one talk with Eric so as to have a picture of what he intends to do.
